General Information

Known as the "Gateway to Wales", Abergavenny is a town situated in the Monmouthshire region of WalesUnited Kingdom.  It lies approximately 6miles (10kms) from the English border nestling between seven hills and providing access to the nearby Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

The town was originally the site of a Roman fort and became a medieval walled town within the Welsh Marches.  There are remains of a medieval stone castle, a museum and plenty of historical buildings which showcase the towns history.  Today Abergavenny is a vibrant town full of culture and tradition with no major industry movement.  Tourism supports the local economy between the busy markets and annual festivals.

Abergavenny is a great base for enjoying the outdoors - ideal for walking and cycling.  Close to Offa’s Dyke and various walks such as the Usk Valley Walk, the scenery is beautiful and plentiful.  The town holds an annual food festival which attracts visitors from all over to enjoy the quality locally grown produce.
